The Great Escape – Boutique Hotel Decor for your Home
Recently I did a little weekend getaway and stayed in a boutique hotel. I almost always stay in my favourite hotel chain when travelling, but this time wanted to spoil myself. Not to mention, I did want to say that I too, had stayed in a “boutique hotel”. What a treat! Everything from real hardwood floors, modern light fixtures, black leather sofa, ripple fold drapes, as well as sheers and sleek lime green countertops. The bathroom had slate tiles with radiant floor heating and an amazing rain shower. I was literally on cloud 9 when I hit the sac. A Vera Wang mattress and the softest bedding I’ve ever felt. Ok, so this was no Holiday Inn.
So what exactly makes a hotel “boutique”? They are usually much smaller than a regular hotel with fewer rooms, allowing clients to really feel like they are part of the elite. Boutique hotels are much more upscale with all of the modern amenities we look for such as electronics (iPhone docking stations), high end soaps and shampoos, Keurig with a wide selection of Starbucks favourites, on-site spa. Of course, more detail goes into decorating the rooms with high end finishes. Details like custom original art and current colour schemes help bring it all together. Hotel chains provide generic rooms that definitely have a “hotel” feel. Boutique hotels take it one step further and help those who stay feel as though they are in a lap of luxury.
Most people often put their master bedroom on the back burner. Nobody ever really sees it but us, therefore it ranks low on the priority list. It is usually the last room to get any updating.
