Redecorating for Relaxation Every Day

Whether I’m looking for the ideal room at our soon-to-be Caribbean hotel or scrolling through our friends’ recent vacation albums on Facebook to see where they found one, there was always one particular room that consistently popped up, caught my eye, and had me reaching for my travel agent’s number.

There’s just something about this room’s décor that is at once simultaneously alluring and calming, and after several days of spending my time leisurely reading the latest Jodi Picoult and sipping ice tea in this room, I can tell you exactly what that is.

Aside from the great beachside view, the cozy décor and use of neutral colors throughout the room provided the perfect feng shui; simply walking in, I felt an immediate sense of stress-free relaxation. The white couch and printed chair added a chic and contemporary appeal, and both my guest and I agreed those stylish additions provided an inviting and comfortable “home-away-from-home” feel. I found that all the neutral colors used – the whites, the beiges, the light greys, the taupes – had me both thinking about the beach and somehow, not much about the heat; all that melted away…

Why am I telling you this? Because I’m redecorating my spare room to match this one. I’d like to recapture that feeling of stress-free relaxation every day.

Here’s hoping you do too!
